I don’t use many products on my babies… just warm water, a little tea tree oil & Burt’s Bees Lotion, Shampoo & Diaper rash cream. Keeping it really simple works best for their sensitive skin.

My favorite skin care product is California Baby Bum Wash. It has calundula (spell) and tea tree in it which calms a diaper rash almost immediately! I try to use it with every diaper change. Sometimes I just spray it on after cleaning her up if she is a little raw and by the next diaper change, the rash is GONE! Love the stuff and I have had the same 2 bottles for about 8 months now and I have not even used half of each bottle! Great stuff!

My little guy has really sensitive skin and eczema and our pediatrician recommended using plain old vaseline on his skin and it works great!

We also use Burt’s Bees Shampoo and Nivea Bath oil during bathtime.

I use mostly prefolds and covers, even when we go out. My husband uses snapping fitted diapers. Too many times I’ve ended up needed to change a diaper and I have my prefold all ready and then I realize that the diaper I just took off wasn’t a prefold so I don’t have any pins to fasten the diaper with. I learned my lesson quickly and I now leave a set of diaper pins on the emergency bag in the car and every diaper bag we have. Hopefully I’ll never be without pins again!

I learned that folding the dipes the traditional way and using a snappi instead of folding and stuffing the prefold into the cover is way faster. I only trifold at night now, just to be on the safe side.

My advice is for the first week or so of your little ones life – Burt’s Bees body oil applied after each diaper change will keep that bum slick and allows that maconium to wipe off super-easy! Thanks to friends for passing that info along to me! 🙂
